SCRA Lease Notice: How to Send It and When It Ends
Exactly how to send the notice that ends your lease, and the date the lease ends.

Sending the notice and the end date
- Give the landlord written notice and a copy of your orders. The statute allows hand delivery, a private business carrier, U.S. mail with return receipt requested, or electronic means such as direct email or posting to a website (50 U.S.C. 3955(c)).
- For monthly rent, the lease ends 30 days after the first date the next rent payment is due after your notice is delivered (50 U.S.C. 3955(d)).
- For other lease arrangements, it ends on the last day of the following month (50 U.S.C. 3955(d)).
